Biography

My name is Kristina Leigh Hall, I'm 25 years old and graduated from Pittsburgh Technical Institute. My major while attending PTI was multimedia, which includes: web design and developing, 3D rendering and animation, audio and video, flash and interactives, as well as graphic design.

I was born in Akron, Ohio and grew up in a small town called Garrettsville where my family currently lives. I attended James A Garfield schools from kindergarten all the way through grade 12. After graduating from high school, I attended Kent State University for two years. I hadn't chosen a major before I left that school, though. After a two year break from college, I chose a major in Multimedia and came to Pittsburgh Technical Institute.

Before coming to Pittsburgh Technical Institute I had a pretty sturdy knowledge of HTML and CSS coding. I also know a little bit about MySQL and PHP, which are both for pulling saved data from a database to display on a website. I have a good understanding of web, but I am eager to learn as much as I can about it to expand my horizons and get better at designing and coding. I have a basic understanding of javascript through the use of jQuery and an advanced understanding of both XHTML and CSS.

I am also good at recording video, editing video, and making motion graphics for video. In my Third Quarter, I started working on an ILP (Industry Lead Project) called "Girls on the Run". It was for a youth organization for pre-teen girls that emphasizes healthy living and good choices. I made a recruitement video along with a handful of other girls to get more young girls to join this program. After much filming and even more editing, the final project turned out amazing.

Three Dimensional Animation is another subject that I have become very good at since I started attending PTI. In Third Quarter 3D Rendering and Modeling, we modeled a train for the Carnegie Science Center for another ILP. I also made a model of Thomas from "Thomas the Tank Engine" that is 'wired' to animate very easily.

I have also gotten good at animating and coding for flash project through the use of Actionscript 3.0. I have coded an advanced MP3 player which pulls it's information from an XML file so it is easily altered to add or remove songs from the playlist. It also has a fast-forward button that works by holding down on the button and a skip track button, which will play the next song in the array. There is also a working seek bar at the bottom of the player that allows you to move to a different part of the song. Also in this mp3 player, there is an equalizer that matches itself to the different pitches and tones of the music.
